Velma (Flake) Duke

Wagener – Mrs. Velma Flake Duke, 89, entered into rest on Thursday, March 16, 2023.

Mrs. Velma is the mother of Cecil Kenneth Wall and his wife Beverly, George J. Germanos, Jr. and his wife Pamela, Paul Duke and his wife Dondra, Charles H. Duke, III, and Mary Chase Duke. She is the grandmother of Steven Wall, Kelly Wall, the late Kourtney Wall, Diana DeBoude and her husband Chris, Laurie Jensen, Stephanie Duke Boles and her husband Daniel, and Lauren Duke. Mrs. Velma is the great grandmother of Anna Wall, Kirby Green, Charlotte Green, Madeline Sayegh, Freya Boles, and Llewyn Henry Boles. She is the wife of the late Charles H. Duke, Jr. Mrs. Velma is the daughter of the late Thelma Gunter Flake and the late Millard Filmore Flake. She is the sister of Harry Phillmore Flake, Jeanie Sandra Flake, the late Johnny Flake, the late Gerald Flake, the late Wayne Flake, and the late James Flake.

Mrs. Velma was a member of New Holland Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and the Vacation Bible School Director. She was a proud LPN. Through serving as a nurse, she met her late husband Charles.

Visitation will be 2-3 pm on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at New Holland Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be at 3 pm also in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow at New Holland Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Owen McAllister will be officiating.
