Victor Hutto Obituary

Victor “Lee” Hutto passed away at his home on May 5, 2024. Lee was born on June 11, 1936, in Pelion, SC. The son of Gladys Lucas Hutto and Earl Hutto.

Lee left home at a young age and joined the service. He spent 8 years in the Air Force and was discharged to South Dakota. He fell in love with the state of South Dakota and that’s where he started his life after the military.

Lee was a jack of all trades and worked in many positions throughout his life. Later in life he worked for the transportation department in South Dakota and retired from there.

Lee loved all animals, and his little dog Dakota was the joy of his heart. Lee also loved the ladies; he was a ladies’ man. His favorite saying was, “He was going to die at 104, shot by a jealous husband.” Although he wasn’t shot by a jealous husband, he still had the ladies. Lee had many friends and if he liked you, he was your friend for life. He had several close friends in Edgemont, SD that he considered family.

Lee will be laid to rest in his family plot in South Carolina. He will be one side of his parents while his brother is on the other side because they fought like cats and dogs when they were alive. We don’t need them keeping the dead up all night!

Lee had two children, Melinda (Hutto) Holloway and Mark Hutto with his second wife, Mary (Yanzick) Mattila.

Lee is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Elsie Lucus, (her husband, James), Geneive (her three children), brother; Gerald, (his wife Ann), his nephews Billy Gene and Edward and his nieces Barbara and Faye, and his grandson Michael.

Lee is survived by his daughter Melinda (Steve) Holloway, his granddaughter; Aimee (Justin) Shadow, his great granddaughter, Kyia (Chase Kopp) Schadler, his great, great granddaughter Sophia Kopp. His son Mark Hutto, Marks ex-wife Sally Hundley. His sister Jean H. Gartman, His nephews, Murray, James Jr., Dennis, Donny, Gerald Jr., Floyd, Keith, and J.R.. His nieces Marian, Diane, and Jeania. Several good friends in South Dakota.
