Wanda Sue Chavis Sturkie, 66, entered into rest on Thursday, December 21, 2023.
Left to cherish Wanda’s memories are her husband of 51 years, Jewel “Bubba” Harold Sturkie; children, Mary Sue (James) Peele, and Jewell DeLaine (Kenny) Buff; grandchildren, Lorene (Brandon Little) Peele, Leila Rankin, James “Bud” (Jessica) Peele, Danni (Morgan) Still, Tyler (Melissa) Hill, Madison Bryant, and Katie Ann Roberts; great grandchildren, Connley Peele, Khloe Stroud, Allison Stroud, Emberleigh Little, Nora Rankin, Lilly Rankin, and Waylon Still; brother, Mark (Camilla) Chavis; in-laws, Deirdre Chavis, Mike Sturkie, Timmy Sturkie, and Connie (Gene) Elrod; and cousins who were special friends, Shirley Sturkie and Cathy Wright.
Wanda was born on June 14, 1957, to the late Norma Runelle Hill Chavis and the late James Harvey Chavis. In addition to her parents, she is also predeceased by her daughter, Michelle Lee Sturkie; and her siblings, Jimmy Chavis, Russell Chavis, and Donna Lynn Chavis.
Wanda was affectionately known by her family as “Nana”. She enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, and tending to her goldfish pond. Wanda was an avid yard sale shopper. She loved collecting knickknacks. She also enjoyed going hunting and fishing with Bubba. Wanda was an awesome cook. She was the most selfless person known, giving anything she had to someone in need.
Visitation will be 1 to 2 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 2 pm also at the chapel. Burial will be at Steam Mill Bottom Family Cemetery.
