Cayce–Mrs. Mildred Shumpert Baker, 95, entered into rest Wednesday, June 21, 2017.
Mildred was the wife of the late Joseph William “Bill” Baker, Jr. and the daughter of the late Earl Bowers “Bub” and Ethel Gantt Shumpert. She is survived by sons; Robert “Bob” (Kathy) Baker of Columbia and J. William “Bill” (Hannah) Baker, III of West Columbia; grandchildren, Robert Brenton “Brent” (Nikki) Baker, Joshua Gray (Jessica) Baker, and Jordan Adair Baker; great grandchild Brenton Gabriel Baker; sister, Annie S. Jackson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers; Cyrus Shumpert, Ray Shumpert, Earl Albert Shumpert and sister Alma Cofer.
Mildred retired from Belk’s Department Store where she worked many years in the Men’s Clothing Area. Family and friends always enjoyed her cooking and Southern hospitality.
Visitation will be from 10am to 11am Saturday, June 24th in the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The Funeral Service will follow at 11am also in the chapel with burial in Pelion Oaklawn Cemetery in Pelion, SC. The Rev. Chet Andrews will be ministering.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
